LTCL Teachers

  • Did you know that you can be awarded a Licentiate of Trinity College London, Teacher's Diploma, (the equivalent of a three year degree), which is recognised all over the world?
  • Did you know that you don't need to attend lectures at an institution to do it?
  • Did you know that if you are already teaching, all you need to do is create documentation of your on-going teaching experience, with reflections, do some personal research, and ultimately, present a live demonstration of your skill.

So if you're already teaching, you're half way there. So, why do you need this qualification?
You don't. Anyone can put a brass plate on their door and call themselves a singing teacher.
As a result though, it is very difficult for singers to be sure that the singing teacher with whom they have signed up, is the "real deal."

We have a duty to the integrity of our profession, to put bona fide letters after our name to sharpen the difference between those who are clearly not qualified and those who are.

See Trinity LTCL teachers syllabus here.

How can VoiceArt Consultancy assist with my accreditation?

By providing:
  • ongoing mentorship
  • observation of teaching from a Master Teacher
  • teaching practice in a unique setting
  • option to practise your teaching skills with a variety of singers (ages and abilities)
  • feedback and Question Time
  • advice about course work content
  • interaction and networking with other student teachers via the Closed Facebook page

Pre-requisites for LTCL teachers

  • Grade 8 singing (from any institution)
  •  VAC requires students to have completed all levels of the Estill program.
  • Student teachers are advised that going the extra mile to obtain the ATCL in performance, ramps up the overall accreditation.
These requirements can be studied whilst working on the LTCL Teacher diploma.

How will this work?

Kate Sadler's new VoiceArt Consultancy (VAC) plans to provide for learning singing teachers in the context of the Monday Performance Skills Class followed by Question Time. Monday Performance Skills Class will take place on Public Holidays.

LTCL singers are required to:
  • register yourself as an LTCL teacher with VoiceArt Consultancy by requesting to join the Closed Facebook page.
  • attend 5 Monday Performance Skills Classes per semester as either participants or observers. (Those undergoing prerequisite exams are advised to be participants).

LTCL students who have a knowledge of Estill and also purchase 5 Private VoiceArt Sessions per semester (LTCL student teachers will receive a $10 discount on their Private VoiceArt Sessions), will be given internship opportunities to workshop singers at the Monday Performance Skills Class when Kate deems them ready to do that, first with another student teacher and then their own singing students.
They are encouraged to bring their own students to the class, especially those included in their case studies. Further to this, it is hoped that learning teachers, in their final stages of study, will also have the opportunity to workshop willing attendees at the Performance Skills Class.

Students who have learnt with Kate in the past who she deems to be an "associate" do not have to purchase 5 Private VoiceArt Sessions in order to be considered for teaching practice at PSC.

Feedback will be given during Question Time.

Should LTCL students wish to have closer mentorship, (discussion, advice, monitoring of course work) they can book further Private VoiceArt Sessions as required. (Or use an existing Private VoiceArt Session for this purpose).

Performance Skills Class is open to everyone, so it will attract of a variety of singers from all genres, ages and abilities.

Kate is an inspiration to me and all my students. She is the best example of a role model as a successful performer, composer, arranger, choral conductor, teacher, consultant and friend. Her approach to every situation is unique and gives every student a plus value after each session. Kate's caring and loving personality helps build confidence to each singer that walks through her door. My career has picked up far from where it was after my experience with Kate. She is definitely a gem in my career path. Thank you Kate.

Casey Koh

Director, Broadway Academy Kuala Lumpur

Kate is amazing. She combines a thorough knowledge of the technical aspects of singing and music with an incredible understanding of performance. As a teacher she is both sensitive and encouraging, demanding that you do the best for yourself. She has changed my relationship with my voice, making it an understandable, repeatable phenomenon, rather than a high-stress hit-or-miss affair where you never quite know what will come out. As a teacher trainer and mentor, she clearly explains and demonstrates technique and performance skills in concise ways I can pass on to my students. My teaching and performance has gained confidence as result. I unreservedly recommend her to anyone interested in finding out more about their voice, or developing their performance skills and the voices and performance skills of their own students.

Music & Voice Teacher, Composer

There's no one way to teach so when I try everything I know it's great to have my mentor Kate help me with another way. You can never stop learning, every voice is unique.

Lareen McMaster

Voice Teacher

Kate has always had an innate feel for the way the voice works. Over the past 20 years I have been learning from Kate, she has not stopped learning about the best ways to teach efficient vocal strategy. I can think of no one better qualified to teach teachers of singing. The only way we can hope to catch up is when she retires, which will be a tragic day for the arts. Kate encourages her teaching students to learn from each other as well as benefiting from her own teaching experience and continually growing font of knowledge about vocal strategy and health.
