Sounds of Southgate is a gathering of singers' in the heart of Southgate. Musical Director, Kathryn Sadler, will take you through a variety of songs (including her original music) and along the way you will receive tips on how to improve your voice. Kate is a master voice teacher and established choral director with a lifetime of experience, having worked with a range of singers.

Sounds of Southgate (SOS) is not a pop or show choir, but the music will always be engaging, singable and appropriately challenging and performances will always be entertaining. You will have access to digital sheet music and harmony parts of all the songs to download for practice. You may also purchase the Voice Preparation Kit (VPK) at a discount to keep your voice in trim in between gatherings. Sounds of Southgate will sing at the Southgate Sings performances twice a year and have other performances as appropriate.

Sounds of Southgate has two 16 week seasons a year and learn 9 songs a season (usually about 6 need to be from memory). Each season culminates in a performance and we spend the season preparing for this. Singers need to commit to 80% plus attendance and be available for both dress rehearsals and the final performance of the season. Audio sound files are provided to help with learning and choristers are expected to work on the repertoire in their own time in order to be prepared for rehearsals. Singers are provided with a rehearsal schedule.

If you are interested in joining us (previous choral experience necessary), we ask that you complete the following by 20 January for Season 1 and 10 July for Season 2:

A) Fill in the Expression of Interest form here 
B) Complete the 2 audio tasks provided and email by attaching to the form or to admin@katesadler.com.au

To complete the audio task:

• download the PDF of the sheet music Aural perception pdf and audio files here
• listen to Kate singing the 2 voice parts - Voice 1 Upper and Voice 2 Lower
• practise singing along to Voice 1 Upper and then Voice 2 Lower
• record yourself singing Voice 1 against the audio track titled "Both" 
• record yourself singing Voice 2 against the audio track titled "Both"

We will select and invite singers to commence with 2 try-out sessions for $36 which will be a chance for you to check out SOS and for us to see if you are a good fit vocally and musically for the group. 

PLEASE NOTE: The Aural Task is NOT required if you have sung in one of Kate's established choirs within the past ten years. Just fill in the registration form stating what choir you were in with Kate and we will be in touch. You will still be required to commence with the 2 week try-out.
